In Grantsville, the businesses that stand out are the ones built on trust, quality work, and genuine care for the community. This local concrete business, Prime8 Concrete, owned by Christian Alvarez, is a clear example of what happens when craftsmanship meets integrity—and keeping things local truly matters.

Putting Down Roots in Tooele County

The journey to building a business in Grantsville started with a move and a leap of faith.

“I moved out here from West Jordan. I was living by myself at the time looking to get married. And we were looking for houses, and it was a lot cheaper over here on this side.” After relocating to Tooele County, the commute made sense—and so did the decision to eventually work for himself.“If it doesn’t work out here, then I have to go out and really do my own thing.”

What began as side work after long days on the job quickly grew into something more. “I would do that after work, get out at 3:00, be pouring the concrete at 4:00, until the lights go out.” Eventually, he made the decision to go all in.“I decided to quit my job and go fully into it.”

Growing Through Word of Mouth

Starting a business in a new community isn’t easy, especially without built-in connections. But in Grantsville, relationships matter—and that made all the difference.

“It was kind of hard at first because you don’t really have a lot of connections starting out in Tooele.” Instead of relying heavily on social media, his business grew the old-fashioned way.“I wasn’t really getting it to the social media side, but I was getting more to word of mouth. That’s huge in this area.”

That word-of-mouth growth reinforced what he was already noticing. “I noticed that a lot of people did like to go ahead and stay local.”

Referring Local and Keeping Business in the Community

Supporting other local businesses is not an afterthought—it’s a priority. “As long as they’re here in Tooele County, I recommend them a lot through Grantsville.”

Whether it’s equipment rentals, fencing, flooring, electrical work, or landscaping, he makes a point to refer trusted local companies whenever possible. “I try to recommend as much to different customers because he has a more of like on a smaller scale.”

For him, keeping work local strengthens the entire community, and that is improtant to Christian.

One Person, One Vision, One Standard of Quality

What truly sets this business apart is the hands-on approach. From the first conversation to the final pour, there’s no middleman.

“I’m a one-man show. I go ahead and I show up, and I talk to the customer and you don’t have to deal with anybody else.” That consistency eliminates miscommunication and ensures accountability.

“There is no room for miscommunication. If anything goes wrong, I’m the only one that can be looked at.” He doesn’t just oversee the work—he does it. “I make sure that I get my hands into every single detail of it.” That attention to detail extends to long-term performance, especially in Utah’s climate.

“There’s those small little details that make a difference.”

Honest Pricing and Clear Communication

Transparency is another cornerstone of the business. Customers know exactly what they’re paying for—and why.

“If I give you a price, that’s the price,” Christian says firmly. There are no surprise charges or upselling tactics.“I know that a lot of different companies use like a funnel system… and I don’t like to do that.” Instead, his approach is rooted in respect.

“I’ll go ahead and give the customer the customer care that I would want to go ahead and receive.”

Built on Trust, Not Pressure

From the very first conversations, Christian helps the customer be at ease.

“I don’t try to be a salesman.” Even if someone doesn’t move forward, he still wants them to be informed. “Even if you don’t hire me… I would still recommend that you make sure that this is done on your project.”

Trust is everything.

“Anytime that anybody puts money into your hands, it’s that thing of trust.” And that trust is something Christian takes seriously.“I said that I was going to go ahead and do it for this much. I said that I was going to go ahead and show up on these days. And that’s what we’re going to go ahead and do,” Christian says with conviction.

A Business That Reflects Grantsville Values

At its core, this business reflects the values of the community it serves. That sense of connection is exactly why Grantsville feels like home.

“I like how it’s a really, really friendly community. Everybody looks out for each other. You can definitely tell that this place is really a friendly and family-oriented community.” By referring local, delivering high-quality work, and treating people with honesty and respect, this business has earned its reputation the right way.

In a town where word travels fast, that kind of integrity doesn’t just build projects—it builds lasting trust. For Christian that trust, quality, and dependability is the foundation of his success.
